Andy’s film places 2nd

Lost and Found in Bangkok, a short film by Aaron and Andy.com‘s Andy Boreham, has won runner-up in an online film festival.

The film, which was originally commissioned and screened on TV2′s gay TV show, The Outlook, was voted second place in the Outrate Online Short Film Festival.

The judges, a group of internationally renowned gay film makers, said the film was “informative, insightful, provocative and completely engaging”. It tells the story of Zac, a gay New Zealander who realises he has found himself in Bangkok.

Andy shot the film on location in Thailand’s capital city, as well as in the country’s northern city of Chiang Mai. “We couldn’t find any go-go bars in Bangkok that would let us film there,” he says. “So in the end we found a tiny one in Chiang Mai, picked the boys we wanted, and filmed the scenes on a Sunday morning when the club was closed!”

“It’s great to get recognition for your hard work,” he says. “But it’s better realising people see what you saw!”

Well done Andy, and very insightful!! Seriously it does make you realise that perhaps your own back yard isn’t the best place to be. I have noticed that the hate doesn’t only come from people outside the community, but also from the inside. A country much deserving of self love doubted by critical loathing from others. You made me think, so thanks!!

Well done Andy – nice to see some NZ gay media, even if the location isn’t little old NZ. Also, well done to Aaron on the narration.

Looks like you’ve found some quality catamites in your travels. It’s nice to know that ‘apparently’ you can spend time with them afterwards, too!
