Lena, representing Germany has won the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo today with her song Satellite. The first win for Germany in the contest since 1982, and a vast improvement of 20th in 2009, and 23rd in 2008.
Eurovision has been going for more than 50 years and while taken quite seriously in Eastern Europe, it’s seen as more of a campy joke in Western Europe. However, several acts have gone on to worldwide stardom following their participation in Eurovision including ABBA, Celine Dion, and errr, Gina G. This year, the UK came last for the third time this decade.
This year’s competition screens on Triangle Stratos at the end of June — a month too late…
