PattyBoy climbs the charts!

We chat with gay Kiwi entertainer and internet celeb PattyBoy, about his new song Unicorn, that has just been released and continues to climb the iTunes charts.

A&A: What is Unicorn about?
PattyBoy: Unicorn is about a crush, someone who is too perfect in your eyes that the love you have for them becomes fictional, like a fantasy.

How long did it take to make?
I wrote this song halfway through last year, it took a few weeks perfecting the lyrics. It wasn’t until about two months ago I started producing and recording it as a single.

How do you think your songs have changed since you began?
They have changed a lot in terms of cleanness in the production side now that I have professional recording equipment and also my voice has gotten better I believe.

The artwork is pretty gay! Tell us about the thought behind it.
The theme for Unicorn artwork is that I am much like Peter Pan, living in a fantasy world forever searching and hoping to find love. So there I wait, except one can not love another until one can love ones self. This is the real journey.

We understand your song is in the Top 100 of New Zealand’s iTunes chart. Is that exciting or what?!
It is unreal! Right now it sits at #49 in the NZ iTunes Pop Charts which is a huge deal for me. I can’t believe the support coming from my friends and fans in downloading Unicorn. I am very lucky and will only give back what I earn from iTunes to them through my music.

Is this your first iTunes release?
Unicorn is my first official release on iTunes and is a test to see how it goes. So far as you can see it’s going better than I could have imagined.

When is your next song? What is it about?
I’m not one to plan when my songs come out or when I will be working on them. I’m constantly writing and ideas are always swimming and evolving in my head. I want to focus on the music video for Unicorn next and then what ever song comes through naturally after that will be the right song at the right time.

Anything else you’d like to say?
I’d like to thank you, Aaron and Andy, for taking the time to interview me and I love and respect you so much for what you are doing for the community. Wear Your Colours, baby!

PattyBoy has packed a good package voice, music, mixing, and art work. His voice is quite good. He’s only 21 years old and produces his art with his money from his sweaty work and free time. I wish him a great future in music, and soon an international music producer is aware of him.
PS: Many today recording artist have horrible voice tune without the recording process.

  3. Loves it! says:

I’m totally loving following Pattyboy and his growth with his art. His work is getting more and more polished and I can’t wait to see the video for this song when it is made. He might not be the best singer in the world but he is real, his message is real, and he is an inspiration.

You’re allowed to think so, but I’m not putting “music” out there for people to critique. If I were to put something out there, I would welcome the comments – positive or bad. That’s part of the creative process. Either way, it doesn’t change my point – a point which remains valid.

    Utterly atrocious.
